After Shooting, Oak Parker Charged with Giving False Information

Arrest in connection with June shooting on Lake Street

A 20-year-old Oak Park resident who told authorities he was a victim of lin the 800 block of Lake Street was charged July 22 with giving false information in connection with that investigation, police said.

Police said Timothy Howard was apprehended in Chicago and charged with obstructing a police officer in connection with the shooting incident that occurred around 2:45 p.m. on June 15.

On that day, authorities arriving at a service drive located between Lake Street and North Boulevard in the 800 block of Lake, and talked with an "alleged victim" of that gunfire, later identified as Howard, who told police he had been involved in an altercation.

No injuries were reported.

According to Oak Leaves, “a shell casing was recovered in the parking lot between Unity Temple and the apartment building at 855 Lake St. Police used a canine patrol to sweep the area, dispatch reports said.”

Police declined to provide details on Howard’s statement, saying that the investigation into the incident was still ongoing; police are still looking for the person who fired the shots.
