TUESDAY, OCT. 23

Car Stolen From Garage

Someone stole a resident's car parked in a garage in the 700 block of north Taylor Avenue after breaking into the garage overnight on Oct. 22-23. Police believe the offender might have stolen the car using a key that was kept under the driver's seat. The vehicle has been entered into a police database and the loss was estimated at $11,000.

Robbery Reported

An Oak Park resident told police at 2:25 p.m. that someone had snatched her cell phone out of her hand while she was on the 600 block of Washington. There was a brief struggle and the resident reported she was thrown to the ground and the man, described as in his 20s of medium build and with a tattoo on his neck fled on foot. The loss was estimated at $200.

MONDAY, OCT. 22

Arrest of Cell Phone Snatcher

Steven D. Echols, 21, of the 1500 block of east 55th Street in Chicago, was arrested and charged with robbery after he forcibly removed a Forest Park resident's cell phone from her hands while she was on an eastbound Blue Line CTA train at about 1:13 p.m. Echols fled the train on foot along the tracks and was arrested at the Oak Park and East Avenue CTA platform, police reported.

7-Eleven Armed Robbery

Police reported that a man described as between 35-40 years old, of dark complexion, short black hair and wearing a black sweatshirt and jeans robbed a 7-Eleven in the 600 block of South Boulevard at about 12:25 a.m. The man told the cashier that he had a gun and demanded the money from the register. The cashier placed both tills on the counter and the offender took off with about $100.

SUNDAY, OCT. 21

Disorderly Conduct Arrest

Delacerna Bailey, 26, of the 1500 block of Dorchester in Dolton, IL, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at about 7:59 p.m. on the 1100 block of Wesley.

Man Reveals Himself

An Oak Park resident reported to police at about 9:30 a.m. that a man described as white, in his 20s and wearing a red hat and blue jacket approached her on the 900 block of south Maple while she was walking her dog and pulled down his pants to expose himself. The man then fled the scene down an alley.

SATURDAY, OCT. 20

No Valid License

Edwin Armondo Santos, 27, of the 4600 block of west McLean in Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at North Boulevard and Ridgeland Avenue at about 11 p.m.

Driving with Suspended License

Kenrick L. Conley, 23, of the 1500 block of west 73rd Place in Chicago, was charged with driving on a suspended license at Randolph and Clinton at about 10:46 p.m.

Retail Theft Arrest

James T. Wade-McGee, 18, of the 900 block of north Humphrey was arrested and charged with retail theft after walking past the point of sale at Dominick's in the 200 block of Lake Street at about 8:09 p.m.

Criminal Trespass

Bettina E. Brown, 28, of the 800 block of north Springfield in Chicago, was charged with criminal trespass to property after being found in a vacant apartment in a building on the 700 block of north Austin Boulevard at about 11:26 a.m.

DUI Arrest

Somer L. Heaps, 30, was stopped for a traffic violation in the 600 block of south Austin Boulevard at about 3:54 a.m. Police said they found a bottle of vodka in the car and that Heaps failed a sobriety test. At the station, a breath tests showed Heaps' blood alcohol level was at .128, over the legal limit. Heaps was released after posting bond.

FRIDAY, OCT. 19

Retail Theft, Violation of Parole Arrest

Andre D. Warren, 50, of Chicago was arrested and charged with retail theft after removing items from Deals in the 6400 block of North Avenue and leaving the store without paying. Police also found there was an active warrant for his arrest for a parole violation.

Criminal Damage to Property Arrest

Kalan S. Mabins, 21, of the 6800 block of south Harper in Chicago, was charged with criminal damage to property at about 1:08 p.m. after damaging items in the victim's apartment in the 1000 block of north Austin Boulevard, police said. Police reported that the damage totaled $115.

THURSDAY, OCT. 18

Hair Stolen

Police reported that two women, one with a nose ring, removed two bags of hair from Beauty One, in the 900 block of Madison, at about 7:45 p.m. and left without paying. The women then entered a car driven by another woman and drove off. The loss was estimated at $76.98.

Jewelry, Cash Stolen

Police reported that a resident's home was burglarized in the 1200 block of north Harvey between 7:30 a.m. and 7:35 p.m. The front door window was broken and the deadbolt unlocked, police said. A first floor window in the rear of the home was also broken and a rear basement door was pried open. Power to the home was also disconnected. Police said about $500 in cash and various jewelry was stolen for an estimated loss of $8,500.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 17

Juvenile Charged With Battering Police Officer

A male juvenile was arrested in the 1200 block of north Austin at about 4:21 p.m. and charged with aggravated battery to a police officer. No more information was available at the time of publishing.

Retail Theft Arrest

Wilbert Morris Jr. 49, of the 4300 block of west Washington in Chicago was arrested and charged with retail theft at Dominick's in the 200 block of Lake Street at about 1:50 p.m.

Car Reported Stolen

Police reported that an Oak Park resident's 2000 Dodge Intrepid was stolen by unknown means in the 1000 block of south Harvey over night on Oct. 16-17. The loss was estimated at $1,000.

Criminal Trespass Arrest

Michal Wrzaszcak, 26, of the 8300 block of Laramie in Burbank, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to property in the 2100 block of south Harlem in Berwyn.

Driving With Suspended License Arrest

Nickolas Hayes, 42, of the 2700 block of west 44th Street in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license in the 200 block of south Euclid at about 8:06 a.m.
