Pregnant Woman Steals Wallet

A pregnant woman and a man were seen stealing a wallet from a shopping cart between 2:20 and 3 p.m. in the 400 block of Madison Street. The total estimated loss is $55, police said. 

3,000-lb A/C Unit Stolen

Someone stole a bike and a 3,000-pound ground A/C unit from a home in the 1100 block of South Ridgeland Avenue between noon April 30 and noon May 2. The total estimated loss is $2,895, police said.

Racking Up Late Fees

Claude Mitchell, 25, of Chicago, was arrested for trespassing a rental car that was due back to the car company on May 27.

During a traffic stop around 2:20 a.m. near the intersection of 1st Avenue and Madison Street, police found a letter from Enterprise, notifying Mitchell of the violation, police said. He was processed on one misdemeanor count of trespassing and given an Aug. 27 court date.

Felon Pleads the Fifth

Police charged Anthony Johnson, 31, of Chicago with illegal use or possession of a weapon by a felon, illegal liquor transport, driving without insurance and speeding around 2:15 a.m. near the intersection of Harlem Avenue and 16th Street. 

During a traffic stop, police found a 9mm semi-automatic pistol in Johnson's waistband and a half-empty bottle of gin in the front seat, police said. 

When asked why he was carrying the gun, Johnson snickered and said, "I plead the fifth," police said. He was processed, given a July 11 court date and held for bond hearings.

Police charged Blair McKenna, 28, of Oak Park, with disorderly conduct after he threw a bar stool into Doc Ryan's, 7432 Madison St., around 2:45 a.m. 

McKenna told police someone tried to sell him cocaine at Doc Ryan's, and also stole $40 from him, police said. He also told police he was kicked out of the bar before he got a chance to call police. 

A Doc Ryan's employee told police McKenna was kicked out because he was drunk and turning over chairs in the beer garden, police said. 

McKenna was given a ticket for disorderly conduct and a Sept. 4 court date. 

LA GRANGE

Man Threatens to Bike Over Woman, Dog

A drunken man rode a bike toward a woman and her dog around 10:53 p.m. in the 400 block of West Cossitt while telling her he was going to run her over, police said. The man was gone when police arrived.
