Pair Arrested After Blue Line Stickup

Police say Chicago men jumped onto train tracks and ran across Eisenhower Expressway in escape attempt.

Two Chicago men who robbed a CTA Blue Line commuter of a pair of cell phones were charged with armed robbery after a foiled escape attempt, police said.

The incident took place July 16 around 2:10 a.m. on a westbound CTA Blue Line, where authorities said Otire Woods and Terrell Jones approached the 23-year-old victim. Woods displayed a handgun — later determined to be a pellet gun — while Jones swiped a cell phone from the man's hand then reached his pocket and stole a second cell phone.

Jones and Wood exited the train at Oak Park Avenue; the victim stayed on until Harlem Avenue then called police from a pay phone.

Both men, police said, jumped on the Blue Line train tracks, hopped a fence and ran across the westbound lanes of the Eisenhower Expressway and were caught a short time later in the 500 block of Harrison Street.
