Police Blotter: Oak Park

Bike thefts, smash-and-grabs and a shattered toilet top this week's neighborhood crimes.

The following items are taken from Oak Park Police Department daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

DOMESTIC BATTERY Devon Blake, 33,  5320 W. Adams St. in Chicago, was charged with domestic battery after a Sept. 6 fight at a residence in the 600 block of North Humphrey Avenue, police said.

BURGLARY More than $3,000 worth of stereo equipment was stolen from the basement of a residence in the 300 block of South Oak Park Avenue about Sept. 6.

VEHICLE THEFT A silver 2002 Honda Civic was stolen about Sept. 6 from an unlocked garage in the 600 block of South Highland Avenue.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE  Sepharino Valencia, 21, 1707 S.  Sixth Ave. in Maywood, was charged with criminal damage Sept. 7 for his involvement in an incident in the 6700 block of North Avenue, police said.

BURGLARY A flashlight and $5 worth of change were stolen Sept. 7 from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 1200 block of North Grove Avenue.

BURGLARY ATTEMPT The driver's side front window of a vehicle parked in the 900 block of North Austin Boulevard  was smashed out in an apparent Sept. 8 burglary attempt.

RETAIL THEFT Alvin Henderson, 35,  4819 W. Washington Blvd. in Chicago, was charged with retail theft and resisting a peace officer Sept. 8 after he was caught stealing from CVS Pharmacy, 345 Madison St., police said.

TRESPASSING James Redmond, 34, 10235 S. Yates Ave. in Chicago, was charged with trespassing at 301 S. Lombard Ave., police said.

BURGLARY A GPS navigation unit valued at $500 was stolen during a Sept. 9 break-in to a car parked in the 700 block of North Ridgeland Avenue.

MARIJUANA POSSESSION Ivan Cain, 19, 1159 S. Lyman Ave., was charged with marijuana possession during a Sept. 7 stop in the 700 block of South Harvey Avenue, police said.

DOMESTIC BATTERY Chase Martin, 26, 4723 W. Race Ave. in Chicago, was charged with domestic battery in the 6000 block of West Roosevelt Road on Sept. 7, police said.

BIKE THEFT A red Schwinn boy's bicycle valued at $50 was stolen about Sept. 8 from the back yard of a home in the 1000 block of Wisconsin Avenue.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE  The front door of a home in the 1200 block of Hayes Street was damaged about Sept. 8.

THEFT A cell phone valued at $500 was stolen Sept. 8 from a store at 910 S. Oak Park Ave.

DUI ARREST Jose Perez-Reyes,  44, of Clarendon Hills, was charged with drunken driving and arrested on a pair of warrants stemming from Clarendon Hills and McLean County after a Sept. 7 traffic stop in the 800 block of Clinton Street, police said.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE The front passenger side window of a 1999 Dodge Caravan parked in the 10 block of Washington Boulevard was smashed out on Sept. 10.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE The bottom portion of a toilet in a Park District of Oak Park-owned public restroom at 1115 S. Harvard Ave. was shattered on Sept. 10.

BURGLARY A GPS navigation unit and stereo system valued at $550 was stolen about Sept. 9 from a 1993 Ford Escort parked in the 1000 block of North Austin Boulevard.

BURGLARY A GPS navigation unit and an iPod Nano valued at a combined $400 were stolen during a break-in to car parked along Thomas Street about Sept. 9.

BURGLARY A GPS navigation unit and corresponding cable valued at a combined $250 were stolen Sept. 10 from a vehicle parked in the 400 block of North Austin Boulevard.

BIKE THEFT An unlocked black and white boy's bicycle valued at $100 was stolen Sept. 10 from outside the Dole Branch of the Oak Park Public Library, 255 Augusta Street.

WARRANT ARREST Ramon Casas, 53, 1212 S. 56th Court in Cicero, was arrested in the 7100 block of West Roosevelt Road Sept. 10 in connection with an arrest warrant stemming from DuPage County, police said.

BIKE THEFT A boy's black and blue bicycle valued at $124 was stolen Sept. 11 from the 40 block of Lake Street.

BIKE THEFT An unlocked blue women's bicycle valued at $50 was stolen about Sept. 11 from a yard in the 200 block of Lake Street.

THEFT Several plastic chairs and a black fire pit were stolen about Sept. 11 from the front yard of a home in the 1000 block of South Wesley Avenue.

DUI ARREST Nativdad Ramirez, 30, 3139 W. 41st Place in Chicago, was charged with drunken driving after a Sept. 12 traffic stop in the 100 block of West Madison Street, police said.

DUI ARREST Erick Ramos, 24, 708 N. Fifth Ave. in Maywood, was charged with drunken driving after a Sept. 12 traffic stop in the 7200 block of West North Avenue, police said.

BIKE THEFT An unlocked boy's black bicycle was stolen Sept. 12 from the front porch of a home in the 900 block of North Humphrey Avenue.

BIKE THEFT An unlocked boy's red BMX bicycle was stolen Sept. 12 from the front yard of a home in the 800 block of South Scoville Avenue.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE A window screen was damaged about Sept. 12 on a home in the 600 block of North Taylor Street.

BURGLARY A car stereo valued at $750 was stolen about Sept. 12 from a vehicle parked in the 400 block of North Taylor Avenue.

BURGLARY ATTEMPT A gray 2005 Pontiac parked in the 400 block of South Taylor Avenue was ransacked Sept. 13, but nothing was taken.
