Police Blotter: Woman Spittin' & Officer Bitten

Dog kennel stolen, plants dug up and more reported.

The following items are taken from the daily summary reports for July 13-July 19. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Retail Theft: Lloyd Ingram, 45, of Chicago, was charged July 19 with felony retail theft after taking $37 worth hygiene products from , 345 Madison St., police said.

Drug Possession: A female police officer was injured July 19 when a suspect, being held on charges of drug possession, bit her and spat in her eye, police said. Harmony Atkins, 27, of Carpentersville, was found unconcsious in the driver's seat of a car parked in the 700 block of Roosevelt Road and was later charged with aggravated battery to a police officer and possession of a controlled substance after investigators found her with eight capsules filled with heroin.

Criminal Damage: A rear window on a 2001 Toyota Avalon parked in the 1100 block of South Boulevard was broken July 19. 

Burglary: A 27-inch bicycle was stolen sometime between July 18 and July 19 from the garage of a home in the 700 block of North Humphrey. Entry was gained through a closed, but unlocked, service door. Estimated loss was $250.

Theft: A portable dog kennel was taken July 18 from the rear yard of a home in the 800 block of South Cuyler Avenue. Estimated loss was $100.

Criminal Damage: The side service door on the garage of a home in the 1100 block of East Avenue was damaged July 18 in an attempted break-in. The suspect was seen exiting through the rear gate of the victim’s residence and walking south in the alley. Estimated damage was $150. 

Theft: Sixteen hosta plants were dug up in the rear yard of a home in the 300 block of Wesley Avenue on July 18. Estimated loss was $240.

Burglary: A 2-foot by 2-foot pane of glass was missing from the window of a garage in the 1000 block of Hayes Avenue sometime between July 17 and July 18. Estimated loss was $40.

Theft: A wallet containing cash, a debit card and a driver’s license, was taken July 17 from the table at, 726 Lake St. The item was left unattended by a customer. Estimated loss was $75.

Burglary to Auto: An acoustic guitar and two iPhone chargers were taken from an unlocked 2002 Chrysler Town and Country parked July 13 in the 1100 block of South Scoville Avenue. Estimated loss was $1,160.
