Police: Failed Fraud Leads to Honest Admission

When a River Forest Police officer asked 18-year-old James Jones if he was going to run, Jones gave it to him straight.

Score one for honesty?

A Chicago man accosted by police inside a local bank after trying to cash a fraudulent check telegraphed his next move, in bold and profane fashion. Here's how it happened, according to a police report:

James Jones, 18, walked into a branch of TCF Bank, 800 Harlem Ave., on July 12 trying to cash a fraudulent check. “F**k yeah, I am going to run!”

Jones then jumped onto desks and climbed over cubicles in an attempt to get away. After a brief struggle with police, Jones, of the 1000 block of North Menard Avenue in Chicago, was arrested and later charged with forgery, a class 3 felony.
