Police: River Forest Bike Thefts Lead to Heroin Bust
Authorities say they found bags of heroin on accused bike thief.
Police in River Forest have arrested a man they say was behind as many as 10 bicycle thefts throughout the summer.
Erik Ingram, 29, was spotted by officers and investigators with the West Suburban Enhanced Gang and Drug (WEDGE) Task Force during an Aug. 22 bike heist at Dominican University's Performing Arts building at Division Street and Keystone Avenue. During his arrest, Ingram had been carrying eight baggies of heroin, authorities said.
Investigators later linked Ingram to roughly 10 bike thefts around the area since June. Police say efforts to get those stolen bikes back to their rightful owners are underway.
