Resident Scares Trespassers Away, Battery: Police Blotter

THURSDAY, JULY 11

Aggravated Driving While License Revoked

Police charged Frank Briguglio with aggravated driving while license revoked in the 7000 block of North Avenue around 12:15 a.m. He was held for bond hearings. 

WEDNESDAY, JULY 10 

3 Bikes, Drill Stolen

Someone stole three bikes and a drill from an unlocked garage in the 800 block of South Cuyler Avenue between 5 p.m. July 5 and 9 a.m. July 10. The total estimated loss is $1,150, police said. 

$980 Cash Stolen

Someone used a pry tool to break into a safe built into a metal file cabinate and stole about $980 cash between 2 p.m. June 26 and 1:15 p.m. July 10 in the 800 block of South East Avenue. 

TUESDAY, JULY 9

Leaving Accident, Suspended License

Police charged Jacob Kowalski, 20, of the 900 block of North East Avenue in Oak Park with leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a suspended license around 7:15 p.m. in the 100 block of Madison Street. He was given an Aug. 12 court date and released on bond.

Trespassing

A woman reported trespassing around 9:45 a.m. after a man and a woman hung around her house and walked in when they thought no one was home. The resident told police the man rang her doorbell several times, then walked around the side of the house with the woman and returned to sit on the front porch. After a few minutes, the man pushed on the screen of an open window and started to enter the home, police said. The trespassers ran when the resident yelled she was calling the police. The estimated cost of damage is $20, police said. 

Window Shattered

Someone broke out the glass of a window of a car in the 1100 block of South Grove Avenue between 9 and 9:30 a.m.

Money Bag Stolen During Meditation Class

A woman stole a money bag containing $110 from a meditation center in the 100 block of Lake Street between 7 and 8:45 p.m. while class was in session. 

Suspended License, Scavenging

Michael Foster, 44, of Berwyn, was arrested for driving on a suspended license and scavenging without a license in the 1000 block of Highland Avenue around 9:30 a.m. He was held on bond. 

Ignition Switch Stolen

Someone stole the ignition switch from a Toyota in the 1100 block of North Austin Boulevard between 8 p.m. July 8 and 8:55 a.m. July 9. 

Bikes Stolen on Scoville Avenue

  • Someone broke the cable lock and stole a $150 men's bike from a rack in the 200 block of North Scoville Avenue between 7:35 and 3:50 p.m. 
  • Someone cut the cord lock and stole a $430 boy's bike and helmet from a rack in the 200 block of North Scoville Avenue between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  

Bike Theft

Someone stole a $500 women's bike from a rack in the 100 block of North Marion Street between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. 

Battery

Police charged a Hillside minor with battery for a June 27 incident in the 500 block of West Lake Street. 

Trespassing Arrest

Police charged Arlesia Taylor, 48, of Chicago, with trespassing in the 6900 block of West North Avenue around 6:20 p.m. She was given an Aug. 19 court date and released on bond. 

MONDAY, JULY 8

iPod Stolen

Someone stole a kid's iPod from a couch in the 800 block of Lake Street between 5:30 and 6:15 p.m. The total estimated loss is $75.
