Residents Report Burglaries, Car Thefts: Police Blotter

Oak Park police report recent thefts, including $3,550 in electronics stolen from a home, a burglary at a yoga studio and more.

MONDAY, JUNE 10

SUV Stolen From Driveway

Someone stole a gray 2004 GMC Denali from a driveway in the 700 block of South Elmwood Avenue between 3 and 7:30 a.m. The total estimated loss is $15,000, police said.

$750 Bike Stolen

Someone stole a $750 bike between 2:30 and 8 p.m. in the 700 block of Lake Street.

GPS, Glasses Stolen

Someone stole a Garmin GPS unit and reading glasses from an unlocked car in an unlocked garage in the 700 block of South Elmwood Avenue between 11 p.m. June 9 and 6:30 a.m. June 10. The total estimated loss is $120, police said.

Wallet, $500 Cash Stolen

Someone stole a wallet containing an ID, a debit card, a credit card and about $500 cash from the hood of a car in a garage in the 700 block of Hayes Avenue between 7:40 and 8:50 a.m. The total estimated loss is $535, police said.

Car Damage

Someone scratched the hood, driver’s side, drunk and passenger’s side doors of a car parked in the 500 block of South Harvey Avenue between 2 p.m. June 9 and 7:45 a.m. June 10. The estimated cost of damage is $200, police said.

Golf Clubs Stolen

Someone used a pry tool to break into a home in the 1200 block of North Humphrey Avenue between 7:15 a.m. and noon and stole a set of golf clubs. The total estimated loss is $650, police said.

SUNDAY, JUNE 9

Burglary at Yoga Studio

Someone stole about $250 in cash from the cash register at a Bikram yoga studio in the 100 block of North Oak Park Avenue sometime between 6:15 p.m. June 8 and 7:30 a.m. June 9.

Patio Furniture Stolen

Someone stole patio furniture from a backyard in the 1100 block of Columbian Avenue sometime between 1:10 and 1:25 p.m. The total estimated loss is $700, police said. 

$850 in Cash Stolen From Car

Someone broke into a car in the 600 block of South Harvey Avenue between 12 and 7 a.m. and stole a wallet containing $150 in cash and $700 from the glove compartment. The total estimated loss is $870, police said.

Bike Stolen, Found in Yard

Someone used a pry tool to break into a basement in the 1000 block of South Humphrey Avenue between 12 and 1:45 p.m. and stole a girl’s bike. The bike was later found in the backyard, police said.

$3,550 in Electronics Stolen

Someone used a pry tool to break into a basement in the 1000 block of South Humphrey Avenue sometime between 11 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. and stole two Playstation game consoles, an X-Box 360 game console, a laptop, two iPads, an iPhone, a flash drive and X-Box and Playstation accessories. The total estimated loss is $3,550, police said.

Weed Whacker Theft

Someone used a screwdriver to break into the front porch area of a home in the 800 block of South Maple Avenue sometime between 9 p.m. June 7 and 9 a.m. June 8 and stole a weed whacker and a gas can. The total estimated loss and damage is $110, police said.

TV, Tools Stolen From Garage

Someone stole a 22-inch flat screen TV and three rechargeable Black & Decker tool batteries from an unlocked garage in the 200 block of South Cuyler Avenue sometime between 10 p.m. June 7 and 7:30 a.m. June 8. The total estimated loss is $260, police said.

Electronics, Protein Stolen From Apartment

Someone stole two laptops, an iPod, a Vera Bradley backpack, textbooks, an Acer net book, headphones and bottles of creatine, protein and melatonin from an unlocked apartment in the 1000 block of North Harlem Avenue between 10 p.m. June 7 and 1 a.m. June 8. The total estimated loss is $2,610, police said.

FRIDAY, JUNE 7

Bike Stolen

Someone stole a $300 women’s bike left unattended in a backyard in the 100 block of South Euclid Avenue between 4:45 and about 5:15 p.m.

iPad, Umbrella Stolen From Office

Someone stole a bag containing an iPad, an iPad case and an umbrella from an office in the 0-100 block of Erie Court between 8:45 a.m. and 8 p.m. The total estimated loss is $960, police said.

Car Stolen on Lyman Avenue

Someone stole a gray 2005 Chevy Blazer parked in the 900 block of Lyman Avenue between 9 p.m. June 6 and 8 a.m. June 7.

THURSDAY, JUNE 6

Table Saw, Torch Kit Stolen

Someone stole a table saw, a paint sprayer, a torch kit and a car stereo from a storage unit in the 100 block of North Kenilworth Avenue between 6 p.m. May 23 and 2 p.m. June 6. The total estimated loss is $1,350, police said.

Bike Stolen

A resident in the 200 block of South Harvey Avenue reported someone stole a bike seat and seat pole from a girl’s bike locked to a rack outside the CTA station. The estimated loss is $80, police said.

Wallet Stolen

Someone stole a wallet containing $15 cash between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. from an unlocked locker in the 6400 block of West North Avenue. The estimated loss is $30.

Patio Chairs Stolen

Someone stole four patio chairs between 10:05 and 10:50 a.m. from a backyard in the 200 block of Wesley Avenue.
