River Forest Police Blotter: Almost Road Rage

Man takes shoes, leaves his; crew finds gun bushed and more.

The following items are taken from the River Forest Police Department daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Traffic arrest: Gary Hernandez, 21, of Northlake, was charged June 12 with driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance and speeding after a traffic stop at North Avenue and 78th Court, police said.

Located item: A 9mm revolver was found by a landscaping crew working at a home in the 1500 block of Forest Avenue.

Traffic Arrest: Cesar Ventura, 23, of Chicago, was charged June 11 with driving on a suspended license after a traffic stop at Thatcher and North avenues, police said.

Retail Theft: Christopher Love, 27, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft and disorderly conduct June 11 when for threatening an employee at the North and Harlem Shell, 7201 North Ave, police said. According to police, Love called the clerk names and threatened to rape and kill her when she told him he owed more than $1.50 for the cigars he wanted to buy. He fled the store with the items. After the clerk called police and gave officers his description, Love was apprehended in the 6900 block of North Avenue, police said.

Marijuana possession: A 16-year-old from Oak Park was charged with possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at Harlem Avenue and Erie, police said.

Theft: An iPod and change were taken June 10 from an unlocked 2009 Acura TL parked in the driveway of a home in the 1500 block of Forest Avenue. Estimated loss was $300.

Burglary: Two watches and other items were taken June 10 from a home in the 300 block of Forest Avenue. Entry was gained by forcing open the front door; dresser drawers were ransacked. The thief also left took a pair of men’s shoes and left his behind. There was no estimate on the loss.

Traffic Arrest: Natalie M. Jaime, 19, of Elmwood Park, was charged June 10 with driving on a suspended license after a traffic stop in the 800 block of Thatcher Avenue, police said.

Traffic Arrest: Juan Lopez, 32, of Chicago, was charged on June 8 with driving on a revoked license after a traffic stop at Chicago and Lathrop avenues, police said.

Aggravated Assault: A driver pulled a pocket knife on another a near rear-end collision June 8 in the 7800 block of North Avenue. The victim told police he had to slam on his brakes, which caused the man behind him to slam on his. The other driver got out of his car, knocked on the victim's window and threatened him with a pocket knife. The man with the knife got back in his car and drove eastbound into Elmwood Park. Police are investigating.

Auto Theft: A 1991 Honda Civic parked behind a residence in the 500 block of Bonnie Brae Place was taken on June 8. Estimated loss was unknown.

Theft: A purse containing credit cards, a driver’s license and $63 was taken from an unlocked 2004 Chevrolet Blazer parked in the driveway of a home in the 1300 block of Lathrop. Estimated loss was unknown.

Traffic arrest: Marco L. Mack, 21, of Hillside, was charged June 7 with driving on a suspended license after a traffic stop in the area of Lathrop and Washington Avenues, police said.

Traffic arrest: Pierre Varnado, 27, of Melrose Park was charged June 6 with driving without a valid license after a traffic stop in the area of Franklin and Madison Streets, police said.
