River Forest Police Blotter: College Student Charged with Drug Possession

The following information was supplied by the River Forest Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Traffic Arrest: Nathaniel Seward, 24, of Chicago, was charged with driving on a suspended license Feb. 6 after being pulled over in the 7900 block of Division Street for having an  expired registration plate on his auto, police said. He also was charged with operating a car with an expired registration.

Drug Possession: Marcin Sip, 20, of Chicago was charged with four drug-related felonies after he confessed to having methamphetamine, heroin, Xanax and Klonopin in his possession, police said. Security at Dominican University, 7900 Division St., smelled marijuana coming from Sip’s dorm room but police were called when the student became uncooperative. He also was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, police said.  

Retail Theft: Derek Hill, 44, of Yorkville, was charged with retail theft Feb. 7 after he was caught trying to steal five bottles of liquor and a package of batteries from Jewel-Osco, 7525 Lake St., police said.

Traffic Arrest: Sian M. Mendez, 25, of Westchester, was charged with driving on a suspended license Feb. 8 after an officer stopped her in the 600 block of Harlem Avenue, police said. She also was charged with operating a vehicle with obstructed registration, police said.

Traffic Arrest: Danyel Martinez, 23, of Wood Dale, was charged with driving without a license Feb. 9 after an officer pulled over his auto in the 1100 block of Harlem Avenue, police said.

Criminal Trespass: Leshunda Sharell Dickson, 19, of Maywood, was charged with criminal trespass to auto Feb. 9  after a computer check found that the car she was driving in the 770 block of Madison Street had been reported stolen the day before in Westchester, police said. She also was charged with unlicensed driving and operating a car without insurance, police said.

Theft: Three reference books were stolen sometime between Feb. 3 and Feb. 6 from the reference area at the library of , 7400 Augusta St., in yet another incident on campus. Estimated value was $516.78.

Traffic Arrest: Charlie Montalvo, 36, of Hillside, was charged with driving on a suspended license Feb. 10 after a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Harlem Avenue, police said.

Disorderly Conduct: David T. Hunter, 25, of Antioch, was charged with disorderly conduct Feb. 11 after he attempted to punch out windows of vehicles parked in the Mobil gas station, 754 Harlem Ave. and scared the female clerk on duty at the time, police said. Police said Hunter was drunk at the time of the incident.

Traffic Arrest: LeMoyne Swanigan, 56, of Maywood, was charged with driving on a suspended license Feb. 11 after a traffic stop in the 7700 block of Madison Street, police said. He also was charged with driving on an expired registration and unlawful display of a registration sticker, police said.

Traffic Arrest:  Yakariel S. Jackson, 18, of Oak Park, was charged with misdemeanor speeding after he was caught driving 72 in a 30 mile per-hour zone in the 400 block of Harlem Avenue, police said.
