River Forest Police Blotter: DUI Charges, Thefts and More

The following information was supplied by the River Forest Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Warrant Arrest: Britney A. Pendergrass, 25, of Chicago, was arrested May 21 on an outstanding warrant out of Elk Grove Village for theft, police said. She was pulled over in the area of Chicago and Ashland avenues for driving without registration plates.

Burglary and Attempt Burglary: Three checks were stolen from one venue on May 21 and pry-tool marks were found in the door of another the next day at two doctors’ offices at 7420 Central Ave. The discovery on the second was made as a result of learning about the break-in at the neighboring office.

Theft: A locked 300 Trek bicycle was stolen from a rack outside of Whole Foods Market, 7245 Lake St. Estimated loss was $500.

Warrant Arrest: Anthony G. Everett, 37, of Chicago, was arrested May 23 on an outstanding warrant out of Lake County for obstructing justice, police said. He was apprehended for selling candy outside of Walgreens, 7251 Lake St., and was cited under a village ordinance for unlicensed soliciting in River Forest. He was then turned over to Lake County, police said.

Retail Theft: Five bottles of aspirin were stolen May 23 from Jewel-Osco, 7525 Lake St., after someone took the items valued at $72.95 and ran out of the store. A security guard chased him but lost sight of him in the area of Jackson and Quick avenues.

DUI Arrest: Marek M. Marzec, 37, of Elmwood Park, was charged with felony drunken driving after a May 23 traffic accident in the 7700 block of Lake Street, police said. He also was charged with unlicensed driving, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and disobeying a police officer, police said.

Traffic Arrest: Nikita A. Finkel, 23, of Oak Park, was charged with reckless driving May 24 after an officer stopped him in the 7500 block of Central Avenue, police said. He also was charged aiding or abetting the unlawful use of a title or registration, driving on the wrong side of the road, speeding, improper passing on the left, failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and improper registration, police said.

DUI Arrest: Roberto Garcia, 37, of Melrose Park, was charged with drunken driving after a May 25 traffic stop in the 7500 block of North Avenue, police said. He also was charged with speeding, improper lane usage, improper display of registration plates and improper transportation of alcohol, police said.

Aggravated DUI Arrest: Martin Rodriguez, 20, of Chicago, was charged with felony drunken driving after a May 26 traffic stop at Thatcher and North Avenues, police said. The felony DUI charge came about because his license already was suspended, police said. He also was charged with driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance, speeding and improper lane usage.
