River Forest Police Blotter: Loud Music Leads to DUI Charge

Woman attempts to fill fake script, employee takes money from business and more crimes reported.

The following items are taken from the River Forest Police Department daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Theft Arrest: An alert neighbor averted a bicycle theft June 18 that resulted in charges lodged against Bobby Byrd, 18, of Melrose Park, police said. According to police, Byrd was seen at a home in the 1500 block of Park Avenue with two bicycles. He fled the scene when approached by the neighbor, who called police.  Byrd was apprehended nearby.

Theft: Cash and a CTA card were taken June 18 from a wallet left by a customer at Noodles & Co., 7215 W. Lake St. Estimated loss was $100.

Burglary: Two bicycles were taken June 16 from the garage of a home in the 900 block of William Avenue. Entry was gained through an unlocked side garage door; once inside a garage door opener was taken from a 2010 Subaru. The bicycles were valued at $100 each.

Traffic Arrest: Tenika Webb, 25, of Maywood, was charged June 16 with driving on a suspended license and suspended registration for not having insurance after a traffic stop in the 200 block of Lathrop Avenue, police said.

Burglary to Auto: A GPS, sunglasses and CDs were stolen June 16 from an unlocked 2001 Audi parked in the 1500 block of Forest Avenue.

Theft: Two barricades were stolen June 15 from a parking garage at , 7900 Division St.  Estimated loss was $1,090.

DUI Arrest: Valentin Garcia, 24, of Melrose Park, was charged June 18 with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, having open alcohol in his car and driving on a suspended license, police said. According to police, Garcia was playing music in his car so loudly that officers could not help but notice that he was driving westbound on the center line of the 7800 block of North Avenue.  

Warrant Arrest: Thaddious Bailey, 27, of Schaumburg, was arrested June 14 on a warrant out of DuPage County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving on a suspended license, police said.

Burglary: A bicycle was stolen June 14 from the unlocked garage of a home in the 1500 block of Franklin Street. The bicycle was valued at $850.

Unlawful Possession:  Marsha Hawkins, 50, of Chicago, was charged June 17 with using a fraudulent prescription form on June 4 to get Norco, a narcotic pain killer, from , 7929 W. North Ave., police said. According to police, Hawkins was taken into custody June 17 for attempting the same thing.

Traffic Arrest: Francisco Marino, 21, of Chicago, was charged June 14 with speeding, driving without a valid license after a traffic stop in the area of First and North Avenues, police said.

Employee Theft: Nicole Tate, 27, of Cicero, was charged June 14 with taking $389.90 from , 7335 W. Lake St., police said. According to police, Tate, an employee, had a loss prevention audit that showed an inordinately high number of refunds at her register.
