SUNDAY, JULY 1

Damage to Property

Windows were broken at a business in the 7400 block of North Avenue, but it cannot be determined if the damage was caused by severe weather or vandalism, police said.

Disorderly Conduct Arrest

Herman Samuel Coakley, 49, of Maywood, was charged with disorderly conduct after he spewed obscenities at a 35-year-old woman who asked him to move his car so she could get to a pump at the Shell Station, 7201 North Ave., police said.

Retail Theft

Six boxes of breathing strips and other items were stolen at CVS Pharmacy, 7929 North Ave., when a man entered the store, put the items in his shirt and ran out to a waiting car after he was confronted by the manager. The vehicle fled east on North Avenue. Estimated loss for the nose strips was $84; loss for the other items was undetermined.

Traffic Arrest

Cuerbin L. Malone, 34, of Bellwood, was charged with felony driving on a revoked license after he was pulled over in the 7800 block of Madison Street for not having a child in a seat belt, police said. He also was charged with driving without insurance, driving on suspended license plates and failing to secure a child in a seatbelt.

THURSDAY, JUNE 28

Theft Arrest

Alejandro Salas, 29, of Northlake, was charged with theft after he stole the rear wheel and tire from a bicycle in the yard of a home in the 8000 block of Lake Street, police said. Police responded to the area and located a man walking at Lake Street and 15th Avenue in Melrose Park who was carrying a wheel and tire that matched the victim’s.

Theft

A locked Trek 7200 bicycle with a white milk crate attached to the rear was stolen from a rack outside of Lewis Hall, Dominican University, 7900 Division St. A helmet and lock also were taken. Estimated value of the three items was nearly $600.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27

DUI Arrest

Kathleen A. Jimenez, 30, of Elgin, was charged with drunken driving after the Jeep after she drove erratically on the wrong side of the 700 block of Harlem Avenue struck a curb and came to a stop, police said. She also was charged with speeding, driving without insurance, improper lane usage and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.  

Theft

An unattended and unlocked bicycle and a backpack containing a cell phone and Chicago Bulls cap were stolen from Keystone Park. The victim told police he left the items next to a gate at Keystone and Central Avenues. The cell phone was valued at $350.

TUESDAY, JUNE 26

Theft

A locked 12-speed bicycle was stolen from a rack at the parking garage at Dominican University, 7900 Division St. Estimated loss was $500.

MONDAY, JUNE 25

Theft

A locked bicycle in a rack near the main entrance to Dominican University’s Priory Campus, 7200 Division St., was stolen. The bicycle had an electronic speedometer and other accessories. Estimated loss was $900.
