River Forest Police Blotter: Toiletries Taken

Retail theft, bikes swiped, and more.

The following items are taken from the River Forest daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Theft: A bicycle was taken July 24 from a home in the 200 block of Lathrop Avenue.

Retail Theft: Angele Collins, 44, of Oak Park, was charged July 23 with taking toiletries from Whole Foods Market, 7245 W. Lake St., police said.

Theft: A power drill was taken July 23 from the front porch of a home in the 3000 block of Keystone Avenue.

Traffic Arrest: Larry J. Adams, 55, of Bellwood, was charged July 22 with driving on a suspended license and theft after a traffic stop in the area of Franklin Avenue and Lake Street, police said. Police said during an inventory search of the car the officer found a box with 36 packages of an over-the-counter medication addressed to the Dollar Tree store in Villa Park. Adams was an employee of the store, and the store manager agreed to sign complaints for the theft.

Burglary to Garage: Sunglasses, $5 and a women’s bike were taken from the garage of a home in the 1500 block of Franklin Avenue sometime between July 21 and July 22. The cash and glasses were taken from a 1995 Mercedes Benz Roadster.

Theft: A wallet containing a checkbook, $100, a driver’s license and credit cards was taken July 19 from a customer at Panera, 7349 Lake St.

Theft: A bicycle was stolen July 19 but the owner, who lives in the 700 block of Clinton Avenue, isn’t sure whether the item was parked at his home, in a rack at or from .

Residential Burglary: An undetermined amount of items were taken July 18 from a home in the 1400 block of Thatcher Avenue by a man who posed as an electric company employee to gain entry to the home. The owner of the home then went to a nearby house when the incident took place. A witness saw an SUV driving north on Thatcher speeding away from the residence the driver and another man was riding in the cargo area with the rear hatch open.

Theft: A duffel bag containing baseball equipment was taken from the front porch of a home in the 200 block of Ashland Avenue sometime between July 16 and July 17. Estimated loss was $700.
