River Forest Police Blotter: Two Teens Cited for Throwing Drinking Parties

River Forest police reports, July 2 - July 9.

SUNDAY, JULY 8

Theft

An unattended wallet containing $40, driver’s license and credit cards was stolen from the counter at Panera Bread, 7349 Lake St. after it was left there by a customer.

Driving Under the Influence

Donaray Seville Jones, 23, of Missouri, was charged with drunken driving after an officer pulled him over in the 7500 block of Lake Street for running a red light at Lake Street and Thatcher Avenue, police said. He also was charged with driving on a revoked license, unlawful use of a driver’s license and disobeying a traffic control signal.

Retail Theft Arrest

Edward Sample, 47, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft after he stuffed a bag of nuts, two jars of tumeric and two bottles of vitamins in a laptop bag and walked out of Whole Foods Market, 7245 W. Lake St., police said. He was detained as he left the store, police said. The items were valued at $86.53.

Social Hosting Violation

A River Forest teen, 17, was cited on a local ordinance for hosting an underage drinking party after a reported disturbance at his home in the 7600 block of Vine Street, police said. When officers knocked on the front door of the house, the party guests, including at least seven people under the age of 21, began hiding  and turning off the lights. Beer had been in plain view on a table when Tarpley came outside to speak with officers.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Gabriel Olvera, 26, of Berwyn, was charged with drunken driving after he was found sleeping behind the wheel of a car in the traffic lane at the intersection of Lake Street and Lathrop Avenue, police said. He also was charged without insurance, failing to carry or produce a driver’s license and improper parking on the roadway, police said.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Tyler N. Kokenes, 25, of Countryside, was charged with drunken driving after he was stopped in the 400 block of Harlem Avenue for driving without tail lights, police said. He also was charged with driving with a blood alcohol content in excess of .08 and driving without tail lights, police said.

THURSDAY, JULY 5

Hosting an Underage Drinking Party

John Cibula, 19, was cited for hosting an underage drinking party in violation of River Forest’s social hosting ordinance and for underage possession of alcohol, police said. Charles S. Gould and Jack Dunphy, both 19-year-olds from Chicago, were also cited for underage possession and consumption of alcohol at the party, which took place in the 300 block of Ashland Avenue. 

JULY 4 – JULY 5

Auto Theft

An unlocked 2009 Acura TSX, with the keys inside, was stolen from the driveway of a home in the 1200 block of Jackson. A set of men’s Calloway golf clubs, a golf bag and shoes were in the trunk.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 4

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Reginald Davis, 33, of Forest Park, was charged with drunken driving after he was pulled over in the 500 block of Harlem Avenue for driving without his headlights, police said. He also was charged with driving without insurance and driving without headlights.

Driving on a Suspended License

Ulysses Garcia, 25, of Chicago, was charged with driving on a suspended license and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop for speeding at Harlem and Bloomingdale Avenues in Chicago, police said. He also was charged with illegal transportation of open liquor and speeding.

Driving on a Suspended License

Dorelia Flores, 30, of Northlake, was charged with driving on a suspended license after her car was pulled over in the 7700 block of North Avenue for having one working headlight, police said. She also was charged by River Forest police for driving without insurance, driving with one headlamp and driving without registration, police said.

TUESDAY, JULY 3

Theft

A wallet containing $30, credit and personal identification cards was stolen from a purse hanging on the back of a chair at Panera Bread, 7349 Lake St.

MONDAY, JULY 2

Driving on a Suspended License

Jeremy T. Miller, 25, of Maywood, was charged with driving on a suspended license after he was pulled over in the 700 block of Madison Street for speeding, police said. He also was charged with speeding, driving without insurance and failing to secure a child in a restraint system, police said.

Theft

An automatic flushing valve was stolen from the men’s washroom at McDonald’s 624 Harlem Ave.
