Missing Woman Found in Maywood, $3,500 in Cash, Jewels Stolen: Police

Car Damage at Dominican

Someone keyed a Dodge Charger parked at Dominican University between about 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. 1532  The victim related that the incident had occurred within a 2 hour time frame.

Retail Theft Arrest   

Police charged Ivan Acevedo, 24, of Bellwood, with retail theft after he reportedly stole $42 in batteries from Walgreens, 7251 Lake St.

Drug Paraphernalia Arrest

Police charged George Brown, 44, of Chicago, with possession of drug paraphernalia about 3:40 a.m. Officers responded to the 500 block of Bonnie Brae reference a resident’s call of a suspicious vehicle, where Brown had several pieces of paraphernalia in plain sight, police said.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2

Drug Paraphernalia Arrest

Joseph Claudio, 21, of the 1400 block of Park Avenue in River Forest, was arrested for drug paraphernalia possession during a traffic stop about 11:10 p.m. in the 7600 block of North Avenue. Police said the driver and car smelled of burnt cannabis. Claudio admitted to recently smoking in the car, police said. Further investigation revealed Claudio was in possession of a glass pipe, which contained cannabis residue and smelled of the drug. Claudio was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and issued a traffic citation for speeding.

Retail Theft Report

A man in his 40s was seen stealing soap from Walgreens, 7251 Lake St., about 9:40 p.m. 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 31

Bike Stolen

Someone stole a $600 BMX bike from a yard in the 1200 block of Park Avenue between about 8 and 8:30 p.m.

Burglary on Keystone

Someone cut a screen to break into a home in the 0-100 block of Keystone Avenue and stole an iPad between about 6:30 and 10:15 p.m. 

FRIDAY, AUGUST 30

$3,500 in Cash, Jewels Stolen From Car

Someone stole a safe containing about $3,500 in cash and jewelry from a car in the 7700 block of Madison Street about 10:30 p.m.  

Missing Woman Found in Maywood

Police found a 70-year-old woman who had been reported missing about a day. Police found the woman in a car about 10:15 in the Loyola Hospital parking lot in Maywood. No foul play was reported, police said.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 29

Retail Theft Arrest

Police charged Alexander Curcio, 26, of Chicago, with retail theft after he stole $333 in over-the-counter medications from Dominick's, 7501 W. North Ave., about 11:30 a.m.
