TUESDAY, SEPT. 25

Man Charged with Theft

Jaime Chandler, 18, of the 1400 block of north Menard in Chicago was arrested for the theft of a bike by Oak Park police at 11:08 a.m. Chandler was charged with theft and issued a court date of Oct. 15 and held in lieu of bond.

Apartment Broken Into

An apartment in the 1000 block of south Austin Boulevard was broken into at about 2 p.m. by a man, described as about 40 years old, black and weighing about 160 pounds. The burglar broke a glass window on the rear door and unlocked the latch. Once inside, the man was confronted by the apartment's renter and fled. The damage was estimated at $25.

Home Burglarized

Someone gained entry to a home on the 700 block of Thomas by breaking a window on the west side of the victim's attached garage between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Stolen was a stationary set, three watches, a wallet and a pocket knife with a total estimated value of $1,050.

Man Charged With Violating Protection Order

Jerry L. Lewis, 51, of the 1100 block of south Austin Boulevard in Chicago was arrested at about 10:32 p.m. in the 1100 block of south Austin Boulevard for violating an order of protection. Lewis was charged and held for a bond hearing.

MONDAY, SEPT. 24

Vehicles Ransacked

Police learned that an unlocked car parked in the 100 block of south East Avenue was entered and ransacked sometime between 4 p.m. Sept. 22 and 8:30 a.m. Sept. 24. Nothing was reported stolen.

Minivan Stolen

A light blue 1998 Dodge Caravan parked in the 0-100 block of South Boulevard was reported stolen to police at about 7:12 a.m. The loss was estimated at $2,000.

Car Battery Stolen From Jeep

A car battery was removed from a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the 600 block of South Boulevard sometime between 7 a.m. Sept. 24 and 5:30 a.m. Sept. 25. The loss was estimated at $100.

Stolen Car Found

Police recovered a Chicago resident's 2003 Ford Taurus that had been reported stolen Sept. 20 in the 1100 block of South Boulevard at about 4:29 p.m.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 18

Spare Tire Stolen

Police learned that a spare tire had been stolen from beneath a vehicle parked in the 900 block of south Oak Park Avenue. The thief cut the wire harness to the tire monitoring system and damaged the mounting bracket. The estimated loss was $1,600.
