Sheriff's Employee's Car Among Local Burglaries: Police Blotter

Oak Park police reports, June 25-26.

TUESDAY, JUNE 25

Warrant Arrest

Donald Hicks, 19, of the 200 block of S. Marion Street in Oak Park, was booked on a warrant for his arrest for a previous theft charge in Oak Park. He was held in lieu of bond.

Car Burglaries

Someone stole headphones from an unlocked car in the 100 block of S. Austin. Another car in the same block was burglarized at about 2:21 a.m. A resident reported seeing three men tamper with his car, though nothing was reported missing. Three men were also seen tampering with a car in the 100 block of Madison Street, but nothing was missing.

Another car in the 100 block of Madison was burglarized, with a Garmin GPS unit, USB cable and car adapter stolen. The loss was $160.  

Finally, a car in the 200 block of Chicago was entered through an unlocked door, and the items stolen included a Galaxy 3 cell phone and a wallet containing identification, credit cards and a Cook County Sheriff’s Department ID. The estimated loss is $1,050.

Criminal Trespass

Someone forced entry to a sprinkler room in the 1100 block of Lake Street between 5 p.m. June 24 and 7:30 a.m. June 25. The estimated damage is $400.

Garage Burglary

A garage in the 600 block of Gunderson was broken into between 8 p.m. June 24 and 5 a.m. June 25, and a silver men’s Marion Bobcat Trail bike was stolen, as well as its lock. The estimated loss is $440.

Property Damage

A fence in the 900 block of W. Chicago was damaged, with an estimated loss of $250.

Warrant Arrest

Steven Green, 35, of Chicago, was booked on two outstanding warrants for his arrest in Oak Park. He was issued two separate court dates and held in lieu of bond.

Bike Stolen

A green Schwinn Continental bike and a basket, lock and horn were stolen from a garage in the 800 block of N. Lombard. The estimated loss is $130.

Retail Theft

Kendall Polk, 20, of the 100 block of S. Elmwood, and Mitchell Joseph, 20, of the 700 block of S. Harvey, were charged with retail theft.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26

Car Burglaries

Someone smashed the driver’s side window of a car in the 200 block of S. Humphrey using a landscaping brick, then ransacked the interior and stole the stereo system. The estimated loss is $331.

A landscaping trailer was burglarized in the 500 block of Wenonah. Someone entered an unlocked door and stole a Red Max leaf blower valued at $500.

A black Samsung Galaxy 2 cell phone was stolen from an unlocked car parked in the 800 block of Gunderson. It was valued at $200.

Warrant Arrest

Joshua Turner, 25, of Chicago, was booked on a warrant for his arrest while in Oak Park. The warrant stemmed from previous charges for the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.

Bike Stolen

A 26-inch white and purple girls 21-speed Schwinn Mongoose Ranger bike was stolen from a bike rack in the 800 block of Lake Street after someone cut the lock. The offender was described as male, black, 23-24 years old, heavier set but with an athletic build and with a short black afro. He was wearing a light colored shirt, dark shorts and carrying a black duffel bag. The estimated loss is $180.

Battery Arrest

Bishop Moore, 53, of the 400 block of s. Taylor, was charged with battery in connection to an incident that occurred June 14.
