WEDNESDAY, JULY 24

Teen Arrested for Burglary

A 16-year-old Berwyn resident was arrested after someone saw him throw a brick through the front door of Quick Food Mart, 1000 W. Lake St. around 12:20 a.m. Police said the kid had stolen cigarettes, cigarillos and candy from the store, and arrested him for tobacco possession, burglary and property damage. He was processed and released to his parents, police said.

Tequila Thief Arrested

Police charged David Novinger, 35, of Chicago with retail theft and marijuana possession after he stole two bottles of tequila from Dominick's, 259 Lake St., around 5:20 p.m. Police said Novinger had 2.3 grams of marijuana on him. He was processed and held on bond.

Winnie the Pooh Stroller Stolen

Someone stole a Winnie the Pooh "safety first" baby stroller from an open garage in the 1400 block of North Austin Boulevard between 10 and 11 a.m. The total estimated loss is $150, police said.

Baby Stroller Stolen

Someone stole a baby stroller from the front porch of a home in the 900 block of Ontario Street between midnight and 5:30 a.m. The total estimated loss is $150, police said. 

Elevator Damage

Someone used a pry tool to force open an elevator door in a building in the 100 block of Forest Avenue between 7 p.m. July 22 and 2:30 a.m. July 23. The estimated cost of damage is $300, police said. 

Package Stolen

Someone stole a package of clothes from the front steps of a home in the 500 block of South Grove Avenue between 4 a.m. July 22 and 1:20 p.m. July 23. The total estimated loss is about $28, police said. 

Locker Ransacked

Someone ransacked a locker in a garage in the 1100 block of Lyman Avenue around noon. The loss is unknown, police said. 

MONDAY, JULY 22

Burglary Arrest

Police charged Thomas Kadlec, 34, of Berwyn with burglary after someone saw him stealing a power saw around 7:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of South Oak Park Avenue. He was held on bond. 

Car Vandalized

Someone vandalized a VW parked in a driveway in the 700 block of Norht Oak Park Avenue between 10 p.m. July 21 and 6:25 a.m. July 22. The total estimated damage is $870, police said.

Man Arrested for Stealing Clothes at Old Navy

Police charged Jesse James Crumpton, 51, of Chicago with retail theft after he stole $172 in clothes from Old Navy, 417 N. Harlem Ave. around 3:40 p.m. He was processed and held on bond.

Man Arrested After Hitting Car

Police charged Alfredo Morales-Morales, 34, of Chicago with failure to give information after hitting an unattended car around 4:20 p.m. in the 1100 block of Ridgeland Avenue. He was processed and released on bond.

SUNDAY, JULY 21

Charger, Sunglasses Stolen

Someone ransacked a car in the 400 block of Home Avenue and stole $5, an iPhone charger and a pair of sunglasses between 3:30 p.m. July 20 and 9:45 a.m. July 21. The total estimated loss is $125, police said.

Trespassing Arrest

Police charged Connie Carter, 34, of Chicago with trespassing to a residence in the 100 block of South Taylor Street around 1:45 a.m. She was processed and held on bond.

Warrant: Trespassing

Police charged Steven Williams, 28, of Chicago with an outstanding warrant out of Oak Park for trespassing. He was arrested at 3 p.m. in the 100 block of North Kenilworth Avenue.

Car Ransacked

Someone ransacked the inside of a car in the 300 block of Home Avenue and stole tools and $5. The total estimated loss is $20, police said.

Wallet Stolen

A woman stole a black wallet containing $50, cards, IDs and a bank book from a purse in the office of the Buddhist Center in the 0-100 block of Harrison Street around 2:25 p.m. The total estimated loss is $70, police said.

SATURDAY, JULY 20

4 Men Seen Stealing at Old Navy

Four men stole about $100 in clothes from a display table at Old Navy, 417 N. Harlem Ave. around 11:45 a.m. and ran south on Harlem.

Pants Poached 

Someone stole a pair of slacks from a delivery package on a porth in the 1000 block of Wisconsin Avenue between noon July 19 and 11:15 a.m. July 20. The total estimated loss is $120, police said.

Toy Car Stolen

Someone stole a toy car from a package in the 500 block of South Cuyler Avenue between 3 p.m. July 19 and 6 p.m. July 20. The total estimated loss is $49.99, police said.

Coffee Mugs Stolen 

Someone stole three coffee mugs from a delivery package on a porch in the 500 block of South Cuyler Avenue around 7:30 a.m. The total estimated loss is about $46, police said.

Tire Punctured

Someone cut a three-inch hole in a tire in the 1100 block of East Avenue between 5:30 p.m. July 19 and 11:30 a.m. July 20. The estimated cost of damage is $100, police said.

Car Stolen

Someone stole a green 1999 Dodge Caravan from the 100 block of South Maple Avenue between 6 p.m. July 19 and 5:30 a.m. July 20. The total estimated loss is $1,500, police said.

Retail Theft Arrest 

Police charged Darryl Jackson, 54, of Chicago with retail theft around 6:20 p.m. at Dominick’s, 259 Lake St. He was processed and released on bond.

Woman Arrested After Hitting Car

Police charged Kristine Turner, 42, of the 200 block of North Oak Park Avenue in Oak Park with failure to give information after hitting another car around 8:30 p.m. in the 200 block of North Oak Park Avenue. She was processed and released on bond.

FRIDAY, JULY 19

Smoke Bombs Set at Coldstone Creamery

Someone set off two cannon mammoth smoke bombs in the gangway next to Coldstone Creamery in the 0-100 block of North Marion Street around 1:40 p.m. Smoke entered the businesses through the ventilation system, damaging some of the ice cream cones, candy and other food items. The estimated damage is $300, police said.

Passenger in Stolen Car Arrested

Police charged Vanessa Rincon, 38, of Chicago with trespassing a vehicle. Police said Rincon was the passenger in the VW that had been reported stolen from the 500 block of Wesley Avenue on July 17. She was processed and released, police said. 

Obstruction of Identification

Police charged Harry Ridgenal, 47, of Chicago with obstruction of identification after he provided false names and dates of birth when questioned by police around 9 p.m. in the 800 block of Highland Avenue. Police said there was also a warrant out of Lake County for forgery. He was held on bond.

iPod, Cell Phone Stolen at Skate Park 

Someone stole an iPod and a cell phone from an unattended bag at the skate park in the 0-100 block of Lake Street between 6 and 7:50 p.m. The total estimated loss is $300, police said.

Possession of a Stolen Vehicle

Police charged William Brown, 37, of Moweaqua, IL, with possession of a stolen vehicle around 1:40 p.m. in Chicago. Police said a plain-clothes officer saw Brown driving the 2011 VW, which was reported July 17 from the 500 block of Wesley Avenue. Brown was processed and held for bond hearings. 

THURSDAY, JULY 18

Car Part Stolen

Someone cut the catalytic converter from an Oldsmobile parked in the 200 block of Lake Street between about 12:30 and 2:40 p.m. The total estimated loss is $1,200, police said.
