Christmas Trees Vandalized

Someone sprayed 10 Christmas trees for sale with a fire extinguisher in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue between 8 p.m. Dec. 14 and 9 a.m. Dec. 15. The total estimated loss is $100, police said. 

Break-in Attempt

Someone tried to break into a storage area in the 1000 block of Pleasant Street between noon Nov. 29 and 3:30 p.m. Dec. 15. No loss reported. 

Saturday, December 14

DUI

Police charged Austin Cone, 18, of the 400 block of North East Avenue in Oak Park with driving under the influence of alcohol in the 1100 block of Schneider Avenue around 1:30 a.m. He was released on bond. 

Break-in Attempt

Someone tried to break into an apartment in the 300 block of Washington Boulevard between 1 and 10:30 a.m. Nothing was reported stolen.

Battery Arrest

Police charged Christian Vanderput, 38, of Chicago, with battery to a police officer in the 1000 block of Chicago Avenue around 12:15 p.m. He was processed and released on bond. 

Jacket, Check Stolen

A man in his 40s stole a jacket containing keys and a personal check from a man in the 800 block of Lake Street around 12:25 p.m. The total estimated loss is $50, police said. 

Theft of Labor/Services

Police charged Pianche Guidry-Watkins, 24, of the 400 block of South Kenilworth Avenue in Oak Park with theft of labor/services from the CTA in the 700 block of South Boulevard around 7:30 p.m. She was processed and released on bond. 

Possession of Stolen Vehicle

Police charged Joseph Sakwa, 56, of the 700 block of West Liberty Drive in Wheaton with possession of a stolen vehicle and driving while license revoked in the 1400 block of North Monitor Avenue around 5:15 p.m. 

Friday, December 13

Wine Glasses Stolen

Someone stole a package containing wine glasses from a porch in the 1000 block of Home Avenue between 11:56 a.m. and 12:06 p.m. The total estimated loss is $25, police said. 

Man Tries to Steal Wreath

A man tried to steal a candle and a Christmas wreath from a porch in the 1000 block of Wisconsin Avenue around 11:20 a.m. The man fled south on a red bike on Wisconsin when the resident confronted him, police said. 

Purse Stolen

A man in his 30s approached a woman from behind in the 1000 block of South East Avenue, grabbed her purse and fled north on East around 6:40 p.m. The total estimated loss is $531, police said. 

Theft at Jewel

Two a man distracted a cashier at Jewel in the 400 block of Madison Street while another man stole $200 from the store around 3 p.m. 

Coat, Platform Shoes and Toys Stolen From Car

Someone stole a leopard print winter coat, a pair of red platform shoes, a black leather coat, a phone charger, a remote control truck and a pink toy truck from an unlocked car in the 800 block of North Austin Boulevard between 3 and 8 a.m. The total estimated loss is $700, police said. 

Car Stolen

Someone stole a red 2002 Ford Focus in the 400 block of South Kenilworth Avenue between 3 p.m. Dec. 12 and 9 a.m. Dec. 13. The total estimated loss is $2,000, police said.  

Packages Stolen

Someone stole three packages from a porch in the 800 block of South Lombard Avenue between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. The total estimated loss is $226, police said.

Man Shoots Air Rifle From Third-Floor Window

Police charged Jonquett Robinson, 21, of Chicago, with aggravated battery after he shot a pellet from an air rifle from a third floor window in the 100 block of North Oak Park Avenue and struck a 48-year-old Chicago man walking in the 700 block of Lake Street around 8:40 p.m. He was held for bond hearings.
