AUG. 16

Criminal Damage to Property

The lock of a foreclosed, vacant home in the 200 block of Franklin was broken, but no damage was reported inside the home

Garage Burglary/Bike Theft

A gold Specialized Crossroad Elite bicycle valued at $400 was stolen from an open garage in the 200 block of Park Avenue.

AUG. 17-18

Thefts at Panera

Two back-to-back wallet thefts were reported at Panera Bread, 7349 Lake Street. The first took place Aug. 17, when a woman's wallet containing coins and various ID and credit cards were stolen and later used to purchased about $1,650 worth of merchandise. The second took place Aug. 18, when a  wallet containing various ID and credit cards was stolen, but the victim reported the cards stolen before any purchases could be made.

Bike Theft

A black and green Schwinn bicycle locked to a rack outside the Dominican University Priory campus was stolen.

DUI Charge

Jose Leon, 57, 1219 S. 59th Court in Cicero, was charged with drunken driving, DUI, improper lane usage, improper turn, driving without proof of vehicle insurance and improper lighting after a traffic stop in the 500 block of Harlem Avenue, police said.

Attempted Car Burglary

The keypad of a 2008 Lincoln MKX parked in a driveway in the 300 block of Gale Avenue was damaged in a break-in attempt.

Grandma Sally’s Butt Grab

A woman waiting to be seated at Grandma Sally’s, 7301 North Ave. on the morning of Aug. 19 reported to police a stranger pinched her buttocks. The offender was described as a white male in his 60s, with gray and white hair, a pale complexion and red cheeks, about 6 feet tall with a thin build. He left in a white, older model 4-door vehicle.
