Two men from Blue Island and a third from Chicago will be arraigned in Cook County Circuit Court later this month for the shooting death of
Devin A. Bickham Sr., 39, his 20-year-old son Devin Ardvell Bickham Jr., and Cardell Taylor, 35, have each been charged with first-degree murder. They are still being held without bond in Cook County Jail as they await their Aug. 29 court date.
Authorities accused Bickham Sr., a former North Chicago police officer, of offering Taylor $400 to kill Alexander. During a last month, Cook County State's Attorney Maureen O'Brien told the court the older Bickham had been planning the crime for some time as a way of getting out his relationship with her.
According to authorities, the older Bickham and Alexander drove to a parking lot at the northeast corner of Division Street and Bonnie Brae Place. His alleged accomplices were in another car a block away. After getting a text message from the older Bickham, Taylor came to the car and shot Alexander several times.
The older Bickham pretended to be a to the shooting and called police. His alleged accomplices were arrested a short time later in Forest Park; a .380 caliber handgun was found inside the car. Alexander died around 11 pm at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
