Two Held without Bond in 2005 Murder of Cicero Woman

Nayely Murry's slaying went unsolved for seven years.

Two men are being held without bond in connection with the slaying of a 23-year-old Cicero woman who who was strangled, suffocated and left inside of a truck of a car in the summer of 2005, the Cook County Sheriff's Office announced last week.

Charged with murder are James Murry, 35, the estranged husband of the victim, Nayely Murry, and a friend, Travon McDonald, 29, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Cook County law enforcement and Cicero police arrested Murry at his home in Toledo, OH. He waived extradition. Murry he appeared in bond court late last week.

McDonald was arrested Dec. 20 after he was paroled from Logan Correctional Facility in Lincoln, IL where he served time for failing to report an accident/death, possession of a controlled substance and aggravated battery. He made his initial court appearance earlier this month, Sheriff's police said.

This past October, the Sheriff’s Cold Case unit was contacted by Cicero Police to assist in reviewing evidence and discussing new technologies to further the case.

The body of Nayely Murry was found in the trunk of a Dodge Intrepid in Robbins two days after Nayely’s family reported her missing in August 2005. Detectives believed she was killed in Countryside before her body was placed in the trunk and left in Robbins.

Sheriff’s Police Detectives assisted Cicero Investigators with re-interviewing those familiar with the case and with reanalyzing phone data.
