Underage Drinker Says She's Innocent Because She Wasn't in a Bar

Maureen Hanley, 20, and Melissa Vissman, 19, both of Westmont, were arrested for underage drinking following a disturbance in the 7400 block of Madison Street about 2 a.m.

Police said Vissman, who was an "active participant in the melee" in the street, tried to walk away from police when they arrived at the scene.

Vissman and Hanley each received an Oct. 2 court date. Hanley told police she will be pleading not guilty because she was not drinking in any of the Forest Park bars, and is therefore innocent.

LA GRANGE

Beagle Pees on Lawn, Ruins Flowers

A woman in the 1000 block of South Ashland Avenue told police a man allowed his unleashed beagle to urinate all over her front lawn and ruin her flowers. The man said he keeps the dog leashed at all times except when visiting the woman’s neighbor, who doesn’t mind the dog walking in his yard. The woman said it was “not her concern to worry about why the dog is off the leash and not on her property.”
