Fall Fest at Rehm Park

Join the Park District of Oak Park as we wrap up our 100th Anniversary year!  We’ll have a hay maze, pumpkin patch, entertainment, photo booth, hayrides, an exotic animal show and more!  Sunday, September 30 from 10am-2pm at Rehm Park.  And it’s FREE!

Punt, Pass & Kick on September 16

The Park District of Oak Park is hosting the NFL’s Punt, Pass & Kick competition on Sunday, September 16 from 1-2pm at Barrie Park.  Girls and boys will be split up and separated into age divisions.  This event is FREE, but pre-registration is required.  For more information call Chris at 708-725-2104.

Creating Native Eco-Gardens at the Conservatory

Learn how to create native, earth-friendly landscapes around your property.  Speaker Dennis Paige, whose passion is native landscaping, is an adjunct faculty member at the Morton Arboretum and the Chicago Botanic Garden.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory, this event will take place on Wednesday, September 19 from 7-8:30pm and is FREE!

Children’s Day at Pleasant Home

History comes to life at Pleasant Home (217 Home Avenue) on Sunday, September 30 from 1-4pm.  Leave the digital world behind and take part in activities of a typical 19th century era child.  Bring the whole family to this fun FREE event.

Fall Workshops at the Conservatory

The Oak Park Conservatory is offering a variety of workshops this fall including Composting, Houseplants for Beginners, Flower Arranging, Preparing Your Garden for Winter, and more.  Go to www.oakparkparks.com for more information on these great programs for the gardener in you.    

Skateboarding 101 for Parents of Skaters at Stevenson Park

Connect with your skateboarder by learning the basics of skateboarding equipment, slang, and tricks from our experienced skateboarding instructors.  This Park District of Oak Park program takes place on September 18 from 6:30-7:30pm and is FREE, but advance registration is required.

Steampunk Chicago at Pleasant Home – September 16

Steampunk’s Watch Chains & Lace at Pleasant Home features live acts, music, tea, vendors, art exhibits, DJs, and tours of Pleasant Home.  $5 in advance or $10 at the door.  For tickets and information go to www.steampunkchicago.com.

Book Worms Book Club for Seniors – September 27 at Cheney Mansion

Keep your mind active by joining the Park District of Oak Park Book Worms Book Club for a lively discussion each month.  September’s book selection is The Paris Wife by Paula McLain.  The group will meet on Thursday, September 27 from 10:30-Noon at Cheney Mansion, 220 N. Euclid.  Copies of the book are reserved for the Book Worms Book Club at the Oak Park Public Library Main Branch under “Park District of Oak Park Book Worms.”  Fee is $1 for Active Adult members and $2 for non-members.        

Senior Activities at Longfellow Center

The Park District of Oak Park offers a variety of programs and classes for seniors.  The Current Events Discussion Group meets on the first Thursday of each month at 10am, and Drop-In Games meets every Tuesday from 10am to 2:30 (Scrabble, Bridge, Mah Jongg and Chess).  World Art Discussion meets on September 12 and 26 at 10:15am at Dole Center, Studio 2, and Walking Club meets on September 17 at Scoville Park.  For more information go to www.oakparkparks.com or call 708-725-2150.
