Anita Alvarez Speaks on Advocating for Our Communities

Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez will speak at the Oak Park Public Library at 6:30pm on Wednesday, June 1 in conjunction with the Oak Park and River Forest League of Women Voters' 87th Annual Meeting. Alvarez will be speaking on “Crime, Justice and Service: Advocating for Our Communities.”

Anita Alvarez is an advocate for public safety and a champion for victims of crime in Cook County.  She made history when she was chosen by voters in 2008 to serve as Cook County’s State’s Attorney.  Alvarez represents many “firsts” for women:  She became the first female and the first Hispanic State’s Attorney and she also became the first career prosecutor ever elected to this important public safety position.
