Lindberg Park To Get a $450,000 Facelift
Sports facilities, tot lot to get overhaul at village's largest park.
Oak Park's largest park will undergo a $450,000 facelift starting in 2013.
Park district commissioners accepted a plan earlier this month to upgrade sports facilities, play areas and other areas at , located at Greenfield Street and Woodbine Avenue.
A property tax increase approved by voters in 2005 provided money for enhancements at the 13.9-acre site. Grant money will also be sought for the project, said Gary Balling, the park district's executive director.

A plan for the facility came as a result of four months of discussion during six community and commission meetings.
Upgrades include:

- Replacing an existing tot lot
- Adding a shelter
- Installing new backstops, benches, fencing, bleachers and warm-up areas with small backstops
- Putting in ADA detectable warning strips to pedestrian entrances
- Adding an entrance to the northeast corner of the park
Since 2005, 10 facilities have either been completely or substantially finished, including: Anderson, Austin Gardens, Carroll, Field, Fox, Longfellow, Maple and Euclid Square parks and the Wenonah and Randolph tot lots.
Upgrades are expected to start next year at Taylor and Mills parks, officials said.
