Mosquito Spraying Scheduled in Oak Park

Des Plaines Valley Mosquito Abatement District will be spraying for skeeters on Wednesday night, weather permitting.

A round of mosquito-killing chemical fogging has been scheduled in Oak Park.

Weather permitting, the Des Plaines Valley Mosquito Abatement District will arrive in Oak Park between 9 p.m. and midnight on Wednesday. It's the second round of spraying this summer.

The Illinois Department of Public Health has a helpful Q & A about the process, including information about the safety of the chemical ingredients used in fogging. Generally, they're safe — "exposures ranged from 100 to 10,000 times below the amount of pesticide that might pose a health concern," the IDPH says.
