Oak Park Could Increase Parking Rates in 2014

Village Board votes Monday on recommendation to increase fees for its structures, garages and lots.

Oak Parkers could see a $10 increase in monthly parking rates in 2014.

The Oak Park Village Board on Monday will vote on a $10 increase for parking garages and quarterly permits fees for parking structures and off-street lots, and a $5 increase for on-street overnight parking zones, according to a village staff memo.

The village currently sells 765 resident permits, 134 non-resident permits and 708 corporate permits in the garages per quarter, according to the memo. If sales remain the same in 2014, the village will generate $64,000 in additional revenue for the parking fund.

Oak Park Interim Parking and Mobility Services Manager Jill Velan told Oak Leaves the new rate was recommended as a response to the Cook County parking garage user tax the village is required to collect and pay.

The Village Board meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2 at Village Hall, 123 Madison St., Oak Park.
