Oak Park OKs Parking Rate Increase

New rates to increase in 2014.

Oak Park Village Board members last week approved an ordinance that will increase monthly parking rates in the village in 2014.

The board approved a consent agenda item, passing a $10 increase for parking garages and quarterly permits fees for parking structures and off-street lots, and a $5 increase for on-street overnight parking zones, according to a village staff memo.

The village currently sells 765 resident permits, 134 non-resident permits and 708 corporate permits in the garages per quarter, according to the memo. If sales remain the same in 2014, the village will generate $64,000 in additional revenue for the parking fund.

Oak Park Interim Parking and Mobility Services Manager Jill Velan told Oak Leaves the new rate was recommended as a response to the Cook County parking garage user tax the village is required to collect and pay.
