Home energy conservation workshop set

Oak Parkers are invited to learn about easy steps to reduce energy consumption at a special workshop scheduled for 7 – 9 p.m., Wed. March 21, at Village Hall, 123 Madison St. Participants will have an opportunity to ask contractors about energy efficient upgrades. Prospective attendees are asked to RSVP to info@energyimpactillinois.org or 855.946.7228. Deadline nears for public health award nominations

The deadline to nominate those who made exceptional contributions to improving the health of Oak Parkers during 2011 is 5 p.m., Fri., March 23. The Oak Park Department of Public Health will honor those individuals and organizations with the William Fitzsimmons Award during 2012 Public Health Week, April 2 – 8. A nomination form may be downloaded at www.oak-park.us/health  – look for the link along the right margin. Nomination forms also are available at Village Hall, 123 Madison St. Completed forms should be mailed to or dropped off at the Oak Park Department of Public Health, Village Hall, 123 Madison St., Oak Park, IL 60302, Attn: Public Health Awards. Nominations sent via e-mail to health@oak-park.us should include responses to all fields listed in the original nomination form. Time running out to vote early at Village Hall

Thurs., March 15 is the last day to vote early at Village Hall for the March 20 primary election. Early voting is offered today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., at Village Hall, 123 Madison St. Voters do not need to cite a reason to vote early. Because early voting at Village Hall is open to all suburban Cook County residents, a government-issued photo ID with the current registered address must be presented. Electricity outage alerts available by text

Mobile phone users who subscribe to ComEd's Outage Alert program will receive a text message of estimated restoration times and other related information. While ComEd does not charge for the notification, message and data rates of the subscriber may apply. Click here for more information or to sign up.

Applications for block parties are now being accepted. Some weekends fill quickly so events should be planned early to ensure preferred dates.
