River Forest Parking Sticker Deadline Looms

Thursday is last day for purchase before prices rise.

From the Village of River Forest:

Police Chief Greg Weiss would like to remind residents that the deadline for purchasing and displaying River Forest vehicle stickers is Thursday, July 14th 2011.

Stickers may be purchased after the deadline, but the price will increase on Friday, July 15th.The Police Department is extending a “grace period” of one week when there will be ticketing vehicles that do not have a 2011-2012 vehicle sticker displayed. Vehicles not displaying a vehicle sticker by Friday, July 22nd 2011 may receive a $30.00 ticket.

Per Village Ordinance, all vehicles registered through the Secretary of State to a River Forest address, or primarily housed in River Forest – even if kept in a garage or rarely driven – must purchase and display a current vehicle sticker on the lower right hand corner of the windshield.

Stickers are available by mail, online at the Village website (www.river-forest.us), or at the Village Hall, located at 400 Park Avenue. The Village Hall is open 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.Mondays, and 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

The Village is continuing to offer a discount to senior citizens on vehicle stickers. discounted price of $25.00 is available to those 65 years or older and applies to only one vehicle per household. The fee schedule for stickers is as follows:

• Passenger autos, motorcycles and mopeds: $45.00
• Senior citizen (one vehicle per household): $25.00
• Trucks, B-plate vans and recreational vehicles: $50.00

Late payment penalties after July 14th are as follows:

• July 15 to August 14: $10.00
• August 15th to October 14th: $15.00
• After October 15th: $20.00
