River Forest, Residents To Go 50-50 On Repairs

Need sidewalk replaced? Meet the village halfway.

Time is running out to submit proposals to River Forest officials for the 50-50 sidewalk replacement program.

Under the program, the village and residents will split the cost of removing and replacing unsafe and crumbling public sidewalks. Public works officials say a property owner's cost will be about $2.15 per square foot, or roughly $53.75 for every 5 foot by 5 foot sidewalk section that gets replaced.

Interested? Organizers of the project say to contact River Forest Public Works by calling 708-366-8500.

But you'll have to act quickly. The deadline to apply is June 3.

And officials are reminding property owners looking to replace their own driveway apron that it's up to the resident to pay 100 percent of that cost.
