Pick a public sculpture

Residents of Oak Park are invited to vote on which of the 12 sculptures currently on display between Lake Street and Forest Avenue the Village Board should consider purchasing for permanent display in the Village.

Such a purchase may be recommended by the Public Art Advisory Commission, who have organized the sculpture walk, on display through Oct. 14.

Villagers can vote at this location and rank all 12 sculptures by preference. More information about the Oak Park sculpture walk can be found on the Village website.

The deadline to vote is Sunday, Sep. 30.

Get safety information from the Fire Department

The Village is encouraging residents to peruse the page on the official Oak Park website containing critical safety information on a wide range of topics, provided by the Oak Park Fire Department.

"In addition to details on the vital mission of fire suppression and emergency medical services, the page also includes a list of helpful fact sheets on topics such as how to deal with severe weather and properly use a barbecue grill or outdoor fire pit," reads a Village information release.

Free nicotine-replacement patches

Smokers 18 years of age and older may be eligible for free nicotine-replacement patches provided by the Illinois Department of Health's Tobacco-Free Communities fund.

Interested persons should call the Illinois Quitline at 866-784-8937.
