WBEZ to Feature Cook Co. State's Atty. Alvarez's Talk With '08 Attack Victim

From the office of Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez:

A conversation between Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez and Esperanza Medina, the victim of a brutal 2008 acid attack, is scheduled to air today on WBEZ (91.5 FM) during their Story Corps segment at 4:40 p.m. and again at 6:20 p.m., according to the State’s Attorney’s Office.

In July of 2008, Medina had sulfuric acid thrown on her and was beaten with a baseball bat in a heinous attack orchestrated by two women who were jealous of Medina’s personal relationship.

In an interview with State’s Attorney Alvarez, Medina tells her remarkable story of healing, both physically and emotionally, in the wake of the brutal attack that burned her face, arms, back and chest and left her with permanent scars.

The interview will air today, Friday, September 20, at 4:40 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. on Chicago Public Radio, WBEZ, 91.5 FM. The interview will also be posted on the Story Corps website: www.storycorps.org.
