From the River Forest Library - An Election Year for Rock and Roll

River Forest Public Library offers info on elections for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2013 class.

Earlier this month, the nominees for the 2013 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees were announced. On this year’s list, artists range from the slightly more obscure (The Paul Butterfield Blues Band) to some of disco’s finest (Chic, Donna Summer), to super lady rockers (Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Heart), to a few of rap’s most controversial groups (N.W.A., Public Enemy), and more.

The winners will be announced in December, and the ceremonies will be held on April 18, 2013 in Los Angeles. This year, the Rock Hall is letting fans have a say in who wins. The top 5 fan-selected artists will become part of a separate “fan ballot” to be weighed along with the usual international voting body. From now through December 3, cast your vote for your top 5 favorites at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame website.

Who did you vote for? Let us know in the comments--and visit the RFPL Beats Blog for updates on the music scene and River Forest Public Library's music collection.
