From the River Forest Library - Foodie February

River Forest Library discusses food programs coming up in February.

Take a look at the February program calendar at RFPL--and you'd guess that we're foodies. We have lots of fun, food-oriented programs coming up this week for all ages.

For Parents and Caretakers:

Thoughtful Living Series- Thinking Outside of the Lunch Box, How to Pack a Healthy Lunch, Wednesday, 2/6, 10 AM

Parents and caregivers will learn about the latest studies on nutrition and foods to grow a healthy mind and body. The program will be led by Lara Pullen, a local mother with a PhD in the life sciences from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She has spent the last five years scrutinizing the nutritional literature to identify how best to feed her three children, each of whom has distinct and evolving nutritional needs.

Vintage Cookies and Candy, Thursday, 2/7, 7 PM

When were brownies invented? What flavors of fudge were popular in the 1950′s? Audience members will enjoy hearing about and sampling cookie and candy trends from past decades. All will leave with recipes. Call 708.366.5205 to reserve your space.

For Kids and Parents:

Donuts for Dads, Saturday, 2/9, 9:30-11:30 AM

Join us for this family friendly drop in program. We’ll have crafts, books and board games out for you to enjoy along with breakfast treats from Blue Max Coffee. At 10:30 we’ll all head upstarts for a fun story time by the fireplace.

For Teens:

Teen Chocolate Extravaganza, Saturday, 2/9, 2-3 PM

Come sample a variety of different chocolates and make some delicious chocolate-covered treats to take home! For kids and teens in grades 6 and up. Space is limited so sign-up is encouraged.
