Stop Tolerance of Intolerance

Have we become tolerant of intolerance?

Since when have we become tolerant of intolerance?

Having disputes and working, even fighting through them was, and in my eyes still is, the American way. Now I know the use of the word "America" is tired and ill gotten these days...But I think I know where this country went bad!

We have grown weak and soft in the areas where we need to persevere, have strength and resolve. I don't mean to step on the toes of parents and families, but when did everyone being equal start? Why does everyone get a turn at bat and get on base? Making believe that everyone is the same is exactly why people are intolerant of the differences when they grow up! Does no one see the correlation? It is a straight line!

If a child grows to think that everyone is the same and all through the formative years he/she is trained to think and believe that there is no failure as long as you try...What kind of wake-up call are you trying to give? A culture shock at the very least!

I understand having a childhood, and for young parents or parents that want to be cool...Give it up! There is something to be said about fear and honesty.

I feared my parents growing up as most kids did back then. That made me not want to screw up and when I did, it made me be creative to find ways out of it or create elaborate stories to remedy the situation.

Ever wonder why movies and music have taken a dip in creativity?

Give the youth a reality check! Not everyone is equal and if you don't work hard you will lose and even if you do give your best, sometimes it's just not good enough!

If I was a crappy art student, but I tried my best, would you let me tattoo you? No!

If I was a “pants around my thighs, ass hanging out” kid, would you let me date your daughter? No!

If I was a guy that was happy with just the very minimum in life, just enough to get by, not caring about anything but getting drunk and having fun...Would you let me work for your company? No!

What happened to decency? What happened to self-worth? What happened?

Teaching people right from wrong isn't enough. We have to teach people that different is good, that colors, religions, races, backgrounds, and sexuality is a basic variable that everyone shares and has the right to be happy and or unhappy with these things within themselves.

Hate isn't going to go away, but let's at least have the courage to hate on a more educated level.

Learn about whom or what you hate, find out why you personally hate whatever it
may be... Then justify your reasoning against fact. By removing emotion from your justification you will be able to state a clear and substantial argument to base your convictions with.

Until then, enjoy the differences in people. Realize without those people you may not like, the world would be a lot different.

For example... The latest incident, the reason behind this rant...The arson fire at the Velvet Rope — a hate crime against the Gay Community in Oak Park?  Why?

Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Freddie Mercury (Queen), Rock Hudson, Elton John,
Liberace, Cyndi Lauper, Ricky Martin, George Michael, Boy George, Clay Aiken, Lance Bass, Alan Cumming, Nathan Lane, Neil Patrick Harris, John Waters, Ellen Degeneres, Wanda Sykes, Cynthia Nixon, Ian McKellen, David Hyde Pierce, Rosy Odonnel, Tracy Chapmen, Melissa Etheridge, Scott Thompson, Lily Tomlin, Chuck Panozzo,Holly Johnson, Ricky Wilson, Fred Schnider & Keith Strickland (B52’s), Neil Tennat & Chris Lowe (Pet Shop Boys), The Village People, Michael Stipe (REM), K.D. Lang, Snagglepuss (Hanna-Barbera), Peppermint Patty & Darcy (the Peanuts), Smithers (the Simpsons), Big Gay Al (South Park), Richard Chamberlian, Dan Butler, Wilson Cruz, Stephan Fry, John Glover, Sean Hayse, Udo Keir, George Takei, BD Wong, David Morreti, John Lovitz, Jim J. Bullock.

Then hate everything that any one of the people above have done. From music to
movies, cartoons to congressmen...Straight white male may just be the new minority.
