D97 Classes Canceled Monday

From Oak Park Elementary School District 97:

The National Weather Service is forecasting dangerously frigid weather and hazardous travel conditions for Monday, January 27. As a result, District 97 classes and after school activities, including Hephzibah programming, have been canceled for that day. In addition, the district’s administration building will be closed.

According to the National Weather Service Wind Chill Chart, which you can access by clicking here, it will take approximately 10 minutes for frostbite to set in if the temperature on Monday morning reaches the predicted 45 degrees below zero with the wind chill. With this in mind, we strongly recommend you avoid spending extended time outside if possible.

We will be monitoring the temperatures and conditions in our buildings the next two days, as well as keeping in constant contact with the Village and districts 90 and 200, to determine if we need to cancel classes and after school activities for Tuesday, January 28. With this in mind, we encourage you to continue monitoring e-mail, the district’s family of websites and the local media for updates about the weather and its impact on district operations.
