Dominican GSSW hosts Charles Madigan at dinner/lecture

Dominican University Graduate School of Social Work’s Center for Professional Excellence will host journalist and author Charles M. Madigan as the keynote speaker at its 6th Annual International Dinner and Lecture, to be held on Wednesday, November 16 at 5:00 p.m. at Dominican’s Priory Campus, 7200 Division Street in River Forest.

Madigan, who currently serves as the Presidential Writer in Residence at Roosevelt University in Chicago, has written extensively on American politics, journalism, culture and business and economics during his 40-year career. In 2004 he edited Global Chicago, a University of Illinois Press book that examined Chicago’s role in the world market. His most recent book, Destiny Calling, How the People Elected Barack Obama, was published in 2009.

Madigan spent more than 27 years as a writer and editor at the Chicago Tribune and previously was an international correspondent for United Press International. He covered several presidential campaigns for the Tribune and authored several books on corporate business. He was also the editor for DePaul University’s 2003 report on human trafficking, a subject in which Dominican’s GSSW has taken a leadership role through research and student field placements.
