Fenwick Teacher Gets Big Win on Jeopardy

Fenwick High School teacher Colby Burnett takes part in Jeopardy Teacher's Edition.

Being an AP World History teacher has to give you a certain leg up on a show like Jeopardy!

It appears it was helpful for Fenwick High School AP World History teacher Colby Burnett, who won the game on Friday, Nov. 16.

Burnett, also a graduate of Fenwick, appeared on the game show as part of Jeopardy! Teacher's Edition. The two-week long competition is billed as, "the country's brightest educators," engaged in a battle of wits.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Burnett won't be keeping the money he wins as a contestant on the show—he'll be giving it to his mom!

Burnett plans to move his mom, who currently lives in Chicago's Austin neighborhood, back to Oak Park. It's the least he can do, Burnett told the Tribune, after his mom worked the night shift for extra money to pay for his tuition to Fenwick.

Fenwick students also got a chance to play Jeopardy on Friday. The Jeopardy! Clue Crew came to Burnett's classroom where his students have been cheering him on. The show also donated a version of Classroom Jeopardy! to the high school for Burnett's participation.
