The James A. Gates Oak Park District 97 Teacher Scholarship hopes to lighten the load with a payment of $1,000 toward a teacher's student loan. It's open to certified D97 teachers in their first or second year of teaching.
Organizers say recipients are chosen by a committee based on the essays submitted with applications. Here's a link to the application and essay questions.
