Student Garden Grows at OPRF

Students lend a hand; donors lend expertise.

Gardening skills have taken root for students at .

Oak Leaves reports on the creation of an herb and vegetable garden on school grounds. It's a joint effort between students in the school's Environmental Club, who've been tending and weeding the garden, and special education students, who've been watering it. Private companies also helped the effort by offering landscaping advice and discounts on material.

The students will donate the harvest — a bounty that includes lettuce, sweet peppers, jalapenos, carrots and onions — to local food pantries and the OPRF cafeteria.
