Youth Sports Injury Prevention is the Name of the Game

Hunter Hillenmeyer, former linebacker for the Chicago Bears who dealt with concussions as a player and now is a concussion safety advocate, will tell his story and offer prevention tips to parents and youth athletes at this open-to-the-public seminar.

He will be joined by OPRF certified athletic trainers and orthopedic surgeons/sports injury specialists from Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, who are also team physicians for the
Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox.

The seminar will feature the top five sports injuries sustained by Illinois high school athletes, as reported in a new survey conducted by the Illinois Athletic Trainers Association and Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush.  The survey polled high school athletic trainers about the most common injuries they saw among their athletes.  The top five injuries are:  knee injuries (patella tendinitis/ACL/MCL),
shoulder overuse/dislocation, back pain, wrist injuries (sprain/fracture) and concussion.  For more information on the survey, visit www.rushortho.com.
