Football: Lyons Township Hosts OPRF in Tough Homecoming Test

Lyons Township is looking to improve their playoff chances Saturday against the 5-1 Huskies.

Who: Lyons Township (3-3, 2-1) vs. Oak Park-River Forest (5-1, 3-1)

When: 1:30 p.m. Saturday

Last week: Down 20-14 with 4:18 left to play in the fourth quarter, the No. 15 Huskies had just 42 yards to score on the No. 5 Hilltoppers. Glenbard West locked down the 20-14 win when their defense intercepted a pass to OPRF running back Mike Hayden on a fourth-and-14 play at West's 23-yard line, according to the Herald.

OPRF (5-1, 3-1) scored first at the end of the first quarter, and finished the first half down 14-7, according to the Chicago Tribune. OPRF coach John Hoerster told the Tribune he was proud of how the Huskies played, and that he hopes the players understand there are "great things to come."

The Lions spoiled Hinsdale Central's Homecoming with a 35-14 win over the Red Devils in Hinsdale.

Hinsdale Central opened the scoring with a 60-yard touchdown drive on their first drive of the game, but then the Lions ripped off 35 straight points, HighSchoolCube News reports.

It was LT's second straight win, lifting them back to .500 and into the thick of the playoff race. 

OPRF, meanwhile, suffered its first loss of the season last week against Glenbard West, 20-14, HighSchoolCube reports

The Huskies are ranked No. 16 in the latest Chicago Sun-Times Super 25.
