Roosevelt Middle School Girls' Track Team Headed to State

River Forest Roosevelt Middle School Athletes Headed to State Track Meet

 

Fourteen River Forest Roosevelt Middle School girls' track team athletes qualified for the State AA Track meet May 18 in Peoria. At Saturday's Illinois Elementary School Association Class AA sectional track meet, Roosevelt's 7th grade girls' team won first place, led by the 400m run of Lauren Lee (1.02) and the 7th grade girls' 4x400 relay team of Lauren Lee, Lily Kennedy, Elizabeth Ward and Rachel Rowe, which also won first place in their event. The Bulldog team also scored strong second place finishes by shot put athlete Grace Underhill and long jumper Emma Smith.

In addition, the 8th grade girls' 4x200 relay team of Tamsen Cronin, Ashley Gerin, Athena Lesiotis and Lucy Jensen won first place at sectionals. Eighth grade throwers Maria Krunic and Tamsen Cronin also delivered stellar performances, taking first in shot put and discus,and miler Polina Bondarenko qualified for State with a time of 5.39.
