Facebook Turns 10: Share Your Memories

Time flies when you’re having fun. Take a walk down Memory Lane with Facebook—and try not to wince at those ‘incredible’ status updates and photos you shared through the years.

My, how you've grown.

Today, Facebook notched its 10th anniversary, and it's celebrating by showing its users how they've shared with the network over the years.

In sentimental "look-back" videos, the network's 1.2 billion users can get a glimpse of their milestones since joining: a film reel of first moments, most-appreciated status updates, shared photos and significant life updates.

The last decade has seen the website spread from one screen in a Harvard dorm room to those of more than a billion active users—170 million new members in 2013.

Last week, Zuckerberg popped up in newsfeeds everywhere with the announcement of "Paper"—Facebook's new app that enables readers to write, film and share stories via mobile phones.

With recent reports that Facebook's prevalence with the teen population is weakening, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg told NBC's "Today" show that the company is focusing on "serving all the different groups that use" the service, including "every demographic in every country."

So we want to know: from ill-fated declarations of relationship status to the photos you wish were never posted and new connections you might not have made otherwise, what’s been the best and worst since joining Facebook? Funny, embarrassing, heart-warming -- we want it all. Share your stories in the comments below!

I posted on Facebook that I was going to be visiting a certain city. A friend I had not seen in many years posted back that they now lived less than an hour from there. We were able to get together, something that never would have happenned without Facebook. I love re-conecting with high school and college friends.

I created a Facebook Group called Sachem Alumni 1959 - 1965. The target is Sachem High School graduating classes of 59 through 65. We now have 124 members. This group turned out to be a "happy Place," where alumni could go and share stories and photos. Keep in mind that our members are between the ages of 66 and 71 years old. Who said that old dogs can't be taught new tricks! LOL. This group is extremely valuable to our membership; we have managed to talk to and get to really know people that we often "walked by" in high school! There is nothing more precious than "keeping in touch " with old and new friends from high school. https://www.facebook.com/groups/58645312298/

I like facebook and I hate it. the ads are annoying so I've been able to block most of those using social fixer.

I love it when FB friends become real world friends - people you can actually reach out and touch in the physical world. It's happened to me several times, and I value those friendships the most.

Facebook keeps you in touch with family and friends far away. But the ads and porn really SUCK. But other than that.
