Oak Parkers can hear about plans to reconstruct the Eisenhower Expressway from Illinois Transportation Secretary Ann Schneider Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School, 325 S. Kenilworth Ave. in Oak Park.
Organized by Sen. Don Harmon the meeting will allow audience members to ask questions about the agency’s proposed alternatives for reconfiguring lanes along a stretch of I-290 between Racine Avenue and Mannheim Road. A top CTA official also is scheduled to participate.
IDOT has said it will choose a final preferred alternative by late 2014, and then begin detailed engineering that will lead to construction within the next few years. The CTA is conducting its own study of potential improvements to the Blue Line along the same transportation corridor. Read more about the project and its impact on Oak Park here.
